Not an Annual. Not Part 43. Something Legally Different.

When a certificated Cessna goes in for its annual, an IA mechanic signs a return-to-airworthy-condition statement under 14 CFR Part 43 — a legal finding that the aircraft conforms to its FAA-approved type certificate. Your experimental aircraft has no type certificate. Your operating limitations use the phrase “condition for safe operation” — a subtly but importantly different legal standard. The repairman is not certifying conformance to a design standard; they are certifying their personal professional judgment that this aircraft can be flown safely. Coastal or high-humidity storage

Any reported hard or firm landing

Ground the aircraft until landing gear attach structure, main spar carry-through, and firewall have been physically inspected with hardware removed. Hard landings impose transient loads well above normal flight loads, and not every overload leaves a visible mark.

Aerobatic or aggressive maneuvering
