Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Welcome to Checklistify. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect and handle your data. Our philosophy is to be useful, not intrusive.

1. Information We Collect

Checklistify is designed to be privacy-first. We do not require user accounts, and we do not collect personally identifiable information like your name or email address to use the site. The data we handle falls into two categories:

  • Your Content (Stored Locally): Any custom checklists you create or pre-made checklists you explicitly save are stored directly in your browser's IndexedDB. This data is yours and never leaves your device. See the "IndexedDB" section for more details.
  • Anonymous Usage Data: We use privacy-focused analytics to understand general site traffic (e.g., which pages are most popular). This data is aggregated and cannot be tied back to an individual user.

2. Cookies and IndexedDB

We use your browser's IndexedDB storage to power the "My Checklists" feature. This information is stored on your computer and is not sent to our servers.

  • IndexedDB for "My Checklists": This is the core of your personalized experience. We use IndexedDB to save:
    • Custom Checklists: The titles, descriptions, and items for any checklist you create yourself.
    • Saved Checklists: Our pre-made checklists that you explicitly save by clicking the "Save Progress" button, along with your checked progress.
  • Third-Party Cookies for Ads: We partner with Google AdSense to display ads. AdSense may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

You can clear your browser's site data at any time, but please note that this will permanently delete all your custom and saved checklists.

3. Third-Party Services

We use these third-party services:

  • Google AdSense: For displaying advertisements to support the site.
  • Vercel: Our website hosting provider.

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them to understand how they handle data.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect our site, including HTTPS encryption (SSL) on all pages. Since all your checklist data is stored locally on your device, you are in control of its security. We do not have access to it.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy periodically. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
