Arrange all bells in pitch order on padded tables before beginning
ContextLay bells smallest to largest, treble to bass, across padded tables with at least 2 inches of clearance between each casting. This order prevents cross-contamination of notes in your log and ensures you never skip a bell. A full 5-octave set (61 bells) can take 90–120 minutes to inspect properly; setting them out first lets you work systematically without interruption. If your set is smaller (2 or 3 octaves), this still applies — disorder during inspection is how bells get missed or mislabeled.
